Today in Classy

So this happened:

Yep, that's alleged cop-killer Christopher Monfort. The back reads "most of my heroes don't appear on no stamp." Clever, eh?

The shirt was produced to promote a local hardcore band. I'm not going to name band right now, but I've contacted them to ask what/why/whuh. Mostly I just want to know who the fuck would wear this.

Saying it like it is
This is a good sign. It means our local crack dealers are ticked off. I hope these guys continue being ticked off, big time. Sissy T-shirt, by the way. Only a mental jerkoff would wear something like that.

It's garden-variety narcissistic personality disorder, or what a three-year-old's temper tantrum translates to once the lil' ego monster hits puberty. But hey, I guess it's an easier way to get attention than actually accomplishing anything in life.

Furious Styles
The band is Furious Styles, and the line on the back is from a Public Enemy song.

And the guy who designed the shirt is in no way involved with drugs.

Nick,

What does the shirt mean? Deliver us from Monfort? Or: Monfort, deliver us from evil?

and to make sure free speech is allowed in all cases
maybe someone should make a similar t-shirt that celebrates the KKK and makes fun of murdering Emit Till. After all it wasn't the KKK (or cops) who killed James Paroline, Tuba Man, clerk at Ballard marktet, taxi driver, Kris Krimes, Eric Townes, mugged my best friend, robbed the store I was working at, mugged my grandmother, killed an old Vietnamese man in order to buy a bottle of Convisseaur, committs 95% of club shootings and car jackings. No, it's not the cops (or the KKK) who does this- it's a group makes up 3% of the population and 80% of violent crime. Any guesses?

Jane doe,

1)Dayum - THREE mentions of the KKK and some passive aggressive bigotry?? - that's quite a publicity salary you must be getting, you wee pathetic racism astroturfer.

1b) Besides, if you were literate, you might read the census and get your stats (at least) right (since we know you can't get the facts right no matter how much the rest of us are here for truth to prevail).
eg. 3%?

2) *yawn* no one's impressed and no minds have been changed. You wasted electrons and not much more. WTG, you're a big rusty Fail Dumpster. And you're full.

3) Asshat. Back to your suburb. This is a city, and it needs grownups.

I suppose it is easier to make a t-shirt than write a song. If you steal the picture.

too bad
I saw a photo of them... they look like scrawny (except for one) white guys. Too bad they didn't find themselves in Pioneer Square during Maudi Gras a few years ago... ha ha ha.
They would have been SCREEEEEEEAMING for the police

Its funny that you say that, because the vocalist of Furious Styles was definatly present at the Mardi Gras celebration you speak of.

Blacker? A bunch of white-trash kids trying to shock. Anyone want to bet there's going to be hell to pay for them? It may seem funny to them now, but I can already hear them cryin for mama.

Try rebelling against this, white punks
It's funny how white rap-industry punks who are supposedly against the establishment (the cops) would be interested in wearing this T-shirt. This is weak anti-establishment. If you white punks want to rebel, try rebelling against the Agenda 21 Sustainable Development movement in your area -- that would earn you some respect. This is the New World Order in your neighborhood, funded by the white globalist corporate monsters. But you guys are probably too stupid to even know what I am talking about. You probably support the establishment. Some punks you turned out to be.

You sound like a bonafide domestic Al Qaeda terrorist, comrade. Anyone who needs freedom to actively destroy his community needs a SWAT team pointing an AR in his face, pronto. That's what I'm talking about.

Still in Seattle
The past day has been a shit-storm for a shirt that wasn't even supposed to reach mainstream society. This shirt wasn't a silly publicity stunt and frankly we're supprised at the ammount of attention it's recieved. We've never wanted or expected mainstream success or attention. This shirt was meant to sell to a select few fans, not to be peddled off onto Seattle's teenagers at Hot-Topic. Anyone who knows Furious Styles knows our stance on police and just because an officer is actually killed doesn't mean we're going to change our tune, so to speak. It wasn't a joke then and it's not a joke now. Because of the press coverage, which was completely unexpected and misinformed, we've had alot of "friends" turn their backs on us. But at the same time, the true friends and fans we have have shown us alot of support. I'm still a member of FS, I still live in Seattle and I still support the shirt as well as all the bands statements.

To be honest I was more impressed by Christopher Monfort's actions when he destroyed those police cruisers a few days before the shooting than the shooting it's self.

Still In Seattle
"Current FS Member"? Funny. The band broke up in March. And former members aren't so supportive of the shirt or Mexi Mike:

"We don’t support it at all," says former Furious Styles guitarist Harris Richardson.

According to Richardson, the shirt was produced by Furious Styles member Mike Torres, without the knowledge of his former bandmates.

It's one thing to hate the police, it's another to wish them dead. Idiots...

No, people who wish cops dead are not idiots. Cops are jerks for having such bad attitudes and committing as many crimes as people they arrest. Work on changing THAT and quit crying.
