North Seattle Strip Club Quietly Reopens, Dancer Immediately Busted By Police

A North Seattle "burlesque" club has quietly reopened its doors after a 5-year hiatus, to fill the void left by the collapse of the Colacurcio strip club empire. Naturally, it has already attracted the attention of the Seattle Police Department.

City officials say the Dancing Bear, on 105th and Aurora, reopened sometime in May—staff at the Department of Executive Administration did not have an exact date—after shutting down for about five years.

The building on 105th and Aurora has been licensed as an adult club since at least 1987, and was in operation until 2005, when they allowed their license to lapse. Although the club's small stage went dark, the adjacent adult book and video store—which are connected—remained open.

Last year, the business—which operates under the name Carnieville—filed to re-up their license.

When staff from the Department of Executive Administration went to inspect the business in March, it was still in a state of disarray. "It wasn’t even swept up," says inspector Michelle Crooks.

The club managed to get cleaned up and got their license back, and reopened in early May.

Shortly thereafter, Undercover Vice detectives dropped by and, according to police sources, found a sad scene.

Police tell Seattelcrime.com that only one dancer was working in the very small club—which one police source described as "a hole"—on several visits.

That dancer just happened to give an undercover detective a "dirty" dance and the city is now working to suspend her dancing license for 30 days.

The city says they know who the woman is, but have not been able to contact her to formally revoke her license.

It's not clear what exactly the woman did during the dance, but police say she violated the city's regulations on lapdances. Police have not found evidence of any prostitution at the club.

Meanwhile...
we have drug deals, robberies, and violent crime skyrocketing around the city and seemingly not enough police officers to handle such threats to public safety, BUT they do have the resources to go get dirty dances in order to bust people for victimless crimes. Awesome

RE: Meanwhile...
They had the resources for "several visits" in fact. I wonder how many lap dances our tax dollars paid for while women were being raped in fred meyer parking lots in broad daylight.

RE: Meanwhile...
Well, here's the thing, folks—and I'll have more on this in the future—just like how bars are inspected by liquor board agents, strip clubs are specially licensed and inspected by Seattle police.

Now, as far as the victimless crime thing goes: yes, in a perfect world, it is a victimless crime. But take Rick's for example. The girls working there had to pay the house a fee. If they couldn't make that fee, they became indebted to them. So what's the easiest way to make that fee? Prostitution. That's not a good system.

And, it should be mentioned: no cop I've ever talked to actually likes doing strip club stings. I'm sure there are some guys that are into it. I've just never met one of 'em.

Hey you're a dumb ass. I worked for de ja vu years ago and the police would always come in there and hang out while on duty under the guise of doing their jobs. They very much enjoyed their time there and would watch the girls dance daily instead of walking their beat out in the hot sun. Also undercover cops would come in regularly and get lap dances and flirt with the girls all night and offer them money to do things sexually until they finally would find a girl who would. Also on numerous occasions those asshole cops would let the girl finish performing the act on them and then put the girl in a paper suiit and haul them off to jail. Our tax dollars are being wasted on letting cops play and be bullies in clubs. And just so you know every dancer pays a fee at every club to be able to dance on their stage and be protected by their security. That's. How a club exists. If a girl can't make enough money to pay her dues then she does get in debt. That girl should think of getting a differnt job but they don't because they like it. And further more if a girl decides she wants to suck dick for money and a man decides that he wants to pay $100 for it that should be beteen a man and a woman and it is a waste of resources to impose a judgemental christian moral on what other people are doing.

RE: re re.
Lusty Lady didn't charge the stage fee you're talking about, so don't claim "that's how it's done". There are many ways to do business (just as I'm sure there are much cheaper BJ's than 100 bucks...)

Lusty lady wasn't a club it was a jack off booth. And you might be right about cheap bjs.
