Possible Gang Assault In South Seattle

Two juveniles were arrested last month after a mob of young men violently assaulted two other men near Franklin High School in what may have been a gang-related attack.

Just after 11:00 p.m. on November 21st, the two men were walking on Martin Luther King Jr Wy S and Rainier Ave S when a group of 15-20 people jumped them. “One victim was down and not moving,” a police eport says, “and the suspects were leaving in various directions.”  One of the victims was left in the roadway and suffered a probable concussion. The other man only sustained minor injuries because he was able to flee from his attackers.

According to the report, the two men were walking together near MLK and Rainier when a group of young men ran up behind them and began yelling “Hoover” and “D-Dub” before they attacked them. The Hoovers are associated with the Crips and D-Dub is connected with the Black Gangster Disciples gang. Police spoke with several witnesses who saw the incident, who told officers the fight “looked like a rugby scrum.”

While searching the area, police spotted three juveniles, believed to be involved in the assault, sitting at a bus stop on Rainier Ave S and S Hanford St. Police arrested two of the juveniles, including one who was wearing a bloody t-shirt, and booked them into the Youth Service Center for assault.
