Officer Assaulted In the U-District

A Seattle police officer was attacked while trying to break up a fight in the University District last week, a police report says.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on February 5th, the officer spotted two women fighting at 45th and University and tried to intervene.

As the officer tried to break up the fight, one of the women turned and struck the officer in the head.

As backup arrived, the woman continued her attempts to hit the officer, the report says.

Police were able to subdue the woman and took her into custody. The other woman involved in the dispute ran from the scene.

The officer only sustained minor injuries during the incident.

This is at least the fourth time that an officer has been attacked in the week.

Earlier today we posted about an assault on an officer during a domestic violence arrest on Capitol Hill.

On January 7th, police also arrested one man in South Seattle after he allegedly fired one shot at an officer on patrol near Rainier Ave S and S Juneau Street.

SPD is also still looking for a man who led police on a chase and assaulted a female officer in North Seattle on Wednesday morning.
