Police Investigating Kidnapping In Greenwood

Police are investigating a possible kidnapping in Greenwood after a woman was beaten and dragged into a car in the parking lot of a drug store in the neighborhood.

On Feb 13, shortly before 10:30 p.m., police received a report that “a white male had shoved a white female into a blue Mitsubishi 4-door” at the Walgreens on 87th and Greenwood “and fled the scene at a high rate of speed”

Officers arrived at the Walgreen’s and contacted the witness who’d called in the report. The man told police he and his two young children were walking to their car when they saw a woman, possibly in her 40s, hunched over in the bushes near the sidewalk. “As he approached his vehicle he heard her say she was afraid and that she thought was going to be beat,” Officer Justin Knoblauch wrote in his report.

The man told police he then saw another man with a goatee and dreadlocks walk up to the woman and hit her. When the witness tried to intervene, the dreadlocked man punched him in the jaw, dragged the woman into his blue Mitsubishi, and drove off.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect’s blue Mitsubishi. Officers also contacted Walgreen’s management to try to get security camera footage of the incident.

We’ll follow up with police and see if we can find out more about this incident, which sounds a bit like it might be domestic violence.
