Man Who Opened Fire Near North Seattle Community College Sentenced

The 31-year-old accused of firing an assault rifle over Interstate 5 last August has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.

On August 28th, police swarmed the North Seattle Community College campus and blocked off I-5 after officers heard gunfire and saw “tracer” rounds being fired from the woods just east of the campus.

Police arrested Richard Floyd Blake after a standoff and, according to court records, found a “military style encampment” in the woods near NSCC’s campus, where Blake had stashed ammunition, gun parts, an AK-47 rifle, and a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook.
