Jury Finds Man Guilty of Stabbing His Ex-Wife Nearly 60 Times

It took a jury an hour-and-a-half to find Jose Angel Bianco guilty in the brutal stabbing death of his ex-wife, Noemi Lopez, in South Seattle in November 2008.

Lopez, a mother of three divorced from Blanco for more than a year, was found stabbed 58 times in her home in the 7600 block of 46th Avenue South. Blanco had called their 15-year-old daughter moments after the slaying warning her not to return to the house.

At trial, prosecutors argued Blanco had threatened to kill Lopez if she began dating another man after their divorce.

“He had once told (a witness) that if he learned his wife had a new boyfriend he would kill her,” Senior Deputy Prosecutor Don Raz told the court.

The jury’s verdict — guilty on the sole count against him, as well as finding that he used a deadly weapon to take Lopez’s life — was met with tears by Lopez’s family and supporters.
