The Morning Robbery Round Up

SPD should be releasing a new batch of reports any day now (I hope) but for now, here’s a rundown of a few robberies around the city, and a map showing the robbery hot spots around the city.

8th and Yesler

A cab driver was robbed at gunpoint in Downtown Seattle late last month by a man he’d picked up in Bellevue earlier that evening. Shortly after 10:30pm on April 23rd, the cab driver picked up the man in Bellevue and drove him to 8th and Yesler. When the cabbie stopped the cab and asked the man for his $30.50 fare, the man pulled out a black handgun and demanded the cab driver’s wallet and money. The man then hopped out of the cab and fled. Police called in K-9 units, but weren’t able to find the suspect.

107th and 5th Ave NE

At about 7:50pm on April 26th, a masked man walked into a convenience store near Northgate, grabbed the store’s cash register off a counter, and tried to run out of the store. A female clerk grabbed the cash register’s power cord and wrestled with the man, who eventually dropped the register and fled. Police weren’t able to find the suspect, but the clerk told officers she recognized the man, and believes he may have been involved in another robbery at the store.
