Never Leave Your Dirty Drawers at the Scene of a Crime

From the

During the October burglary in Shoreline, police say a 39-year-old felon with a long criminal history grabbed clean clothes from one of the rooms he ransacked. Before fleeing out the back door, he left his soiled underwear, jeans and shoes behind.

King County Sheriff’s Detective Cary Coblantz collected the soiled clothes and requested they be sent to the State Patrol Crime Lab for tests.

[A] DNA profile led them to their suspect — a man who was already in jail for several counts of residential burglary.

This story reminds me of an old joke:

This guy goes to the doctor for a physical, and the doctor asks him for a urine sample, a stool sample, and a semen sample.

The guy turns to the doctor and says “Hey, Doc, I’m kind of in a hurry. Can I just leave my underwear?”
