Prosecutors File Charges In Attack On Transgendered Woman In Ballard

Just four hours after we first posted about an attack on a transgendered woman at a busy intersection in Ballard, prosecutors have filed malicious harassment charges against the suspect in the assault.

Court documents allege Daniel Patrick Woodward, 51, approached a transgendered woman at a bus stop shortly before 4:00pm on May 30th, threw her to the ground, and yelled “you fucking faggot! you out to die and go to hell!.” Court documents say Woodward then kicked her in the neck, punched her in the face, and fled the scene.

Police arrested Woodward several block away and booked him into the King County Jail for malicious harassment, Washington’s hate crime statute. Woodward also had an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant at the time of his arrest.

Court records indicate Woodward was previously charged in a malicious harassment attack in 2003 in Franklin County. Jail records indicate he has also previously been arrested multiple times for assault, property destruction, and trespassing.

Woodward is being held in the King County Jail on $250,000 bail.
