King County prosecutors contend Howard “Rick” Stull attacked his girlfriend’s teen grandson early on the morning of June 11 in their North Seattle home.

Accosting the boy at 5 a.m. in the teen’s bedroom, Stull is accused of trying to hammer the teen in the head with a wooden bat, according to police reports. The boy deflected the blow with his left arm, sacrificing his elbow to protect his head

The bat broken, Stull grabbed several items before fleeing the home, in the 10300 block of Eighth Avenue Northwest, in a motor home registered to the teen’s grandmother. According to police reports, he is believed to have left the state.

Speaking with detectives, the boy and his grandmother said Stull felt the teen “was disrespectful towards him and had stated that he didn’t think he could continue to live in the home,” according to charging documents.

Stull, the boy’s grandmother told detectives, wanted to live alone with her and wanted to kill the boy.
