Guilty Plea In Leschi Murder

From the PI.com:

A Leschi man has pleaded guilty in the slaying of 18-year-old Aaron Sullivan, a Seattle youth who was shot to death in July.

Tristan N. Appleberry, 20, pleaded guilty as charged Wednesday afternoon to second-degree murder. He faces 15 to 23 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 6.

King County prosecutors contended Appleberry shot Sullivan as the teen sat in a car near Appleberry’s home in the 700 block of 32nd Avenue South.

Speaking to police, two friends in the car with Sullivan said they’d come to the neighborhood to confront an associate of Appleberry’s about an ongoing disagreement regarding a girl or young woman. The confrontation followed an argument earlier in the day at Leschi Park.

Those riding with Sullivan told police Sullivan was preparing to drive away from the home when they spotted Appleberry walking out of the home carrying an SKS-style assault rifle, according to court documents. One passenger said he initially believed the gun to be a fake until Appleberry chambered a cartridge.
