Another Teen Convicted In Tuba Man Slaying Arrested Again

Another of teens convicted of manslaughter for killing street musician Edward McMichael — “Tuba Man” to generations of Seattle sports fans — was arrested again Saturday morning for investigation of armed robbery, police said.

That boy, 17, is the second of the three youths convicted in McMichael’s death to be arrested since serving his sentence in McMichael’s death. He has not been charged in the Saturday incident.

A man told police he was robbed at about 5:50 a.m. by three suspects, including the 17-year-old boy. The victim told an officer the suspects fled east on University Street and police said they were arrested at Sixth Avenue and Seneca Street.

The group approached the victim asking for bus fare and, while he planned to give them a couple dollars, they took two $100 bills, police said. The victim told an officer he thought one of the suspects had a copper gun.

One of the suspects was found with a cigarette lighter that looked like a Derringer style handgun, and an officer also found 23.3 grams of marijuana, according to investigators.
