Man Charged For Intimidating Judge In Courtroom Outburst

A 32-year-old man apparently angry that a Seattle Municipal Court judge ordered him jailed on his birthday has been charged with intimidating a judge.

In court Aug. 3 facing a misdemeanor assault charge, Selwan Habib was ordered held on $10,000 bail by Municipal Court Judge Edsonya Charles.

King County prosecutors contend Habib became enraged and began struggling with court staff as they pulled him into an elevator to return him to jail. Habib, investigators contend, called Charles names and complained that she was holding him in jail on his birthday.
