The handcuffed man suspected of stealing a Seattle police car Thursday after slithering from the back seat to the driver’s seat was charged Monday with second-degree burglary, motor vehicle theft and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.
Investigators say Jay D. Marbut III, who made his first court appearance in the case Friday, ended his two-mile ride with lights flashing when he came to a dead end. He was arrested near his South Seattle home about 90 minutes after allegedly stealing the car.
Marbut — 5-foot-8 and 190 pounds, according to court documents – remains in King County Jail on $500,500 bail. Marbut’s arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 22.
