We’ve reported several times on the city’s apparent moves to cut crime prevention coordinator and victim advocate positions, but we had an interesting conversation with one of SPD’s top cops, who gave us some potentially good news about the survival of the programs.
When we spoke with SPD Deputy Chief Clark Kimerer at a media forum on Wednesday, he told us he believes the department will be able to preserve some of the CPC positions.
How many? Which ones? That remains to be seen. Kimerer said SPD will be working up until the 11th hour on their budget, which Mayor McGinn will announce next week.
I know that’s not much, but this is probably the only good news we’ve heard about the CPC/VA positions since we first heard about the cuts in June.
More as we get it.
