Around 10:30pm on October 11th, officers were dispatched to E Yesler and Boren Ave after someone called 911 and reported that a motorist had tried to run a man on a scooter off the road, according to a police report.
When police arrived at Yesler and Boren, they found the scooter was laying on a grassy slope near the street. The victim was nearby and approached officers at the scene.
The man told officers he was riding near Boren and Yesler when he noticed a white Buick of Oldsmobile Cutlass following closely behind him.
According to the report, the man told police his scooter has a top speed of 25 miles per hour, so he was “in the far right lane of Boren” as he was riding up the street.
The man motioned for the driver to go around him, but the vehicle followed closely behind him for about 200 yards.
The driver then swerved into the victim’s lane—running the scooter rider off the road and into some nearby shrubbery—before speeding off.
The victim did not sustain serious injuries in the crash, although his bike sustained a busted tail light.
The report indicates officers may have captured an image of the suspect’s vehicle on their in-car video as they drove to the scene.
