A police report detailing Saturday’s shooting at Rainier and Cloverdale says four suspects tried to rob a 17-year-old boy moments before they shot him.
Around 9:00pm, the 17-year-old showed up at the Rainier Beach Community Center, bleeding from several gunshot wounds.
Police spoke with the teen, who apparently told them four suspects wearing gray hoodies had approached him and asked where he was from. Police say the teen said he was from the Central District, and made references to the Down Wit the Crew gang.
According to police, two of the suspects had red bandannas hanging out of their pockets, likely signifying gang affiliation.
The teen then apparently challenged the suspects to a fight, police say.
According to the report, the suspects told the victim “Give me all your shit” before at least one of the suspects opened fire, wounding the victim.
The victim was taken to Harborview, and the case was handed over to the gang unit.
