Just a bit ago we Tweeted that police were searching near the University Bridge after receiving a report about a body in the water.
Now, SPD’s put out a brief update with a bit more info on the investigation:
On October 27th at approximately 8:37 p.m. some boaters were on the water under the [University] Bridge when they bumped into an object in the water. The object appeared to be a tarp possibly with a blanket inside. The boaters began towing the tarp to the rowing center near the 3300 block of Fuhrman Avenue East when an unknown object came out of the tarp. The boaters thought that the unknown object was possibly a human body. The boaters lost sight of the object and continued on to the rowing center and subsequently called 911. Patrol officers responded to the rowing center and interviewed the boaters.
SPD Harbor patrol and King County Guardian One are conducting an on-going search for the unknown object.
We’ll update if we get any more tonight.
