Woman Charged For Mowing Down Pedestrians Outside SoDo Club

A West Seattle woman accused of drunkenly running down seven Sodo pedestrians was charged Tuesday with vehicular assault.

King County prosecutors contend Juanita L. Wright, 43, was drunk behind the wheel just before 11 p.m. Thursday when her pickup truck slammed into seven pedestrians in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue South. One of the pedestrians suffered a serious head injury; three others suffered broken bones.

Wright — whose aliases include Jualita L. Mars and Juanita Carpenter — has now been charged with four counts of vehicular assault. Prosecutors contend Wright’s blood alcohol level was 0.29, more than triple the 0.08 legal limit.

Booked into King County Jail following the incident, Wright is accused of failing to stop for pedestrians leaving the Showbox Theater.
