SPD Discovers the Internet, Will Tweet Info On Stolen Cars

The Seattle Police Department has turned to Twitter in an effort to combat rising auto theft rates.

Following the lead of Alberquerque police, SPD will soon begin Tweeting information on the make, model, and color of stolen vehicles, apparently in the hopes that observant Twitter users will send in tips when they spot hot cars.

SPD statistics say auto thefts are up 20% from last year, so it’s good to see that police are getting creative (sort of) to help bring those numbers down, but I have my doubts about how much this’ll actually help.

I can’t wait for SPD to discover Tumblr.
