Seattle Bucks National Trend As Property Crime Rates Rise


According to statistics released on Monday by the FBI, violent crime in Seattle, Tacoma and Spokane decreased, but property crime in all three cities rose during the first half of 2010 compared with the same period in 2009.

In Seattle, property crimes in the first six months of 2010 rose just over 5.5 percent when compared with the first half of 2009, according to the FBI statistics.

According to the FBI crime report, the nation experienced a 6.2 percent reduction in the number of violent crimes during the first six months of the year. Property crimes during that same period declined 2.8 percent nationwide.
