The Morning Blotter: Police Investigating Saturday Night Shooting Under Viaduct

Patrol officers and gang detectives scoured the parking lot under the Alaskan Way Viaduct last weekend looking for evidence after a man called police and said he’d been shot in the hand.

Around 2:00am, the man and a group of friends left a nightclub near Pioneer Square, and walked to their car, which was parked under the viaduct, at S. Main St. and Alaskan Way S. w

The group was standing outside the car when they heard a gunshot.

They quickly got into their car and fled the scene, according to a police report.

The victim realized he’d been shot in left ring finger, called 911, and waited for officers at 1st and Main. Medics then transported the man to Harborview.

Patrol officers searched the scene of the shooting for evidence and called the gang unit to assist in the investigation.

Gang detectives determined the shooting was apparently not gang related, according to the report.

The report notes officers working near the viaduct did not hear gunfire around the time the shooting reportedly occurred. Officers were also unable to find a bullet casing or fragments at the scene.
