Details Released on Man Found Beaten to Death in Capitol Hill Empty Lot

Authorities say that the man found Sunday morning in an empty lot on Capitol Hill—the future site of a park—is 37-year-old Zachary Lewis, a man with a busy court record chock full of minor run-ins with the law.

Lewis was found by a passerby Sunday morning lying in an empty lot at Federal and Republican. His head had been bashed with a blunt object and, according to a Seattlecrime source, he had been beaten so badly that both arms were broken.

Capitolhillseattle.com reports that investigators are saying Lewis was a resident of a housing facility for chronic alcoholics in Eastlake. His most recent arrests were for theft and assault. Whatever his background, nobody deserves to die like this.

SPD says the investigation is continuing.
