Man Charged With Assaulting Parking Enforcement Officer

A 20-year-old man has been charged with felony assault after investigators say he assaulted a parking enforcement officer.

The incident happened about 4:15 p.m. on March 9 when the parking officer was working near Yale Avenue and Howell Street. The officer told investigators he saw the suspect, Isanti Nation, walking with another man who was approaching and yelling “What up homey?”

Police believe Nation wasn’t walking steadily and kept yelling.

“The victim stopped his bicycle and pulled over to allow the male to pass and did not engage in conversation with him,” Detective James Cooper wrote in a probable cause document. “As the male drew even with the victim he charged the victim and with both hands struck the victim in the chest causing the victim to fall off his bicycle.

“As the victim began to call for help on his department radio the male again charged the victim and this time grabbed his jacket.”

Police say Nation’s friend tried to pull him off the parking officer and an off-duty Seattle police officer who witnessed the alleged assault came to his aid.
