King County prosecutors have filed assault on a police officer charges against a Seattle man accused of punching an officer after he was caught “wrestling with a tree.”
Filing a third-degree assault charge, prosecutors contend Scott D. Baker, 29, punched the Seattle officer in the face after he was contacted by police following a report of an intoxicated man in the 9500 block of Interlake Avenue North outside the Licton Springs Apartments complex.
Called to the area at 4:40 a.m. on Nov. 3, four patrol officers were told of “a disturbance involving an intoxicated male wrestling with a tree,” Seattle Detective Paul Suguro told the court.
The officers arrived to find Baker sitting in nearby shrubs, breaking branches and he talked to himself, Suguro told the court. Two officers identified themselves and attempted to talk to Baker, to no avail.
