Officers were able to locate the victim and summoned Seattle Fire to the location.  SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where she underwent surgery.

Officers did locate a knife they believe was used in the assault, and that was placed into evidence.  At this time, no one is in custody, but detectives are following up on the investigation and are following up on several leads.

Car Prowler Fights With Cop, Gets Arrested

On May 14th, at approximately 10:45 PM, witnesses flagged down an East Precinct patrol sergeant regarding a car prowl that had just occurred near 10th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street.  One of the victims had chased the suspect on foot, but lost sight of him in the area underneath I-5. The description of the suspect was broadcast.  Another East Precinct officer located the suspect in the area next to I-5 known as “The Jungle.”  When the officer attempted to arrest the suspect, the suspect ran.  After a short foot pursuit, the officer caught up with the suspect.  As the officer attempted to grab the fleeing suspect, both the officer and the suspect fell to the ground.  As both men tried to get up, the suspect kicked the officer in the lower back, causing a sharp pain.  The suspect got up and ran away from the officer.  The officer lost sight of the suspect and assumed that he had run away from the area.  The officer remained in the area looking for any evidence that the suspect might have dropped.  As the officer approached a thick brush, the suspect stuck out his leg and tripped the officer.  The officer immediately got up and confronted the suspect.  After a struggle, the suspect was taken into custody.

The officer sustained a strain and soreness in his neck and lower back.  The officer was transported to the hospital where he was treated and later released.  The 48 year old suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault, Investigation of VUCSA, and a felony Department of Corrections warrant.
