The Morning Blotter: Man Pistol-Whipped, Robbed In (Yet Another) Craigslist Deal Gone Bad

Yup, another Craigslist-related tale of woe.

This time, our victim agreed to meet a man in South Seattle—in the 10200 block of Renton Ave S, to be exact—around 11:00 p.m. on May 29th to buy an LG Sidekick cellphone, according to a police report.

What could possibly go wrong?

When the victim showed up to meet the seller, two men approached him, and one of the suspects pulled out a pistol and chambered a round.

The armed suspect then pistol-whipped the victim and demanded his cash.

The victim handed over $190, before the suspects also stole his iPhone and and rifled through his car. One of the suspects then took the man’s car keys and threw them in the street.

The suspects fled and the man contacted police.

Officers called out a K9 unit to assist in a search, but officers weren’t able to find the suspects.

Police may have pulled the suspects’ fingerprints off the car, and the victim may have provided police with a phone number for one of the men, according to the report.

The victim apparently wasn’t able to find his car keys following the robbery, and had to have his car towed home.
