Metro Bus Sustains Non-Life-Threatening Injuries In Shooting At Rainier and Henderson

Police have arrested three teens suspected of wounding a Metro bus in a shooting at Rainier and Henderson and leading police on a multi-city chase Saturday evening.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, an off-duty officer working at the Rainier Beach Safeway heard three to five gunshots, and saw a blue Mercury Marquis flee the scene.

Other officers responding the shooting spotted the vehicle at Martin Luther King Jr Way S and S Ryan St

When police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver took off and officers followed the car on a seven or eight mile chase as it drove through Renton and Kent.

Near 114th and 191st Ct in Kent, a passenger jumped from the car, dropping a handgun in the process.

Police chased the man on foot and took him into custody. Officers also arrested two teens in the vehicle.

According to SPD, two of the teens are 17, and one is 18.

Back at the shooting scene, officers removed several bullets from the front end of the Metro bus. Police say the bus was not seriously injured in the shooting.

Gang unit detectives are investigating the case.
