The Morning Blotter: Man Slashed In University District Robbery

A man was slashed by a mugger in the University District last week after he refused to give up his backpack.

The victim was walking through the University District near 11th Ave NE and NE 50th just after midnight on August 8th when a man approached him and started talking to him.

The victim became “uneasy,” a police report says, and tried to back away from the suspect.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s backpack and the two men got into a struggle.

The suspect then pulled out a knife, slashed the victim’s forearm, grabbed the backpack, and fled.

The victim went to the hospital after the incident, but did not report the robbery to police for three days. He told police he needed to file a report so he could get a refill on medication for the injury he sustained in the mugging.
