In this edition of Weekend Fuzz: Man shot in Capitol Hill robbery, couple beaten in Ballard carjacking.
A man was critically wounded in a violent mugging on Capitol Hill late Sunday night.
Police say a man was walking down Boylston Ave. near E. Olive St. around 11:30 pm when another man, armed with a handgun, walked up to him and told him to hand over his wallet.
When the victim, who police say is in his 30s, refused, the mugger shot him at least once in the abdomen.
The suspect ran off and may have fled the scene in a silver Jaguar. The victim was taken to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.
In another scary incident over the weekend, police say a group of eight or nine men attacked a man and his girlfriend and stole their car in Ballard.
According to SPD, the group of men attacked the couple near NW 77th St. and 34th Ave. NW just before midnight Saturday, and stole the victims’ 1996 Acura Integra.
About 15 minutes later, the suspects were seen racing the stolen car on NW 80th St., and later crashed into a tree on First Ave. NW and NW 82nd St. It’s not clear how many of the suspects were in the stolen Acura.
The suspects then fled the crash scene in a Lincoln.
Police seized the crashed car as evidence.
